Measuring yourself with a soft measuring tape is the best way to find out your size. It's important to take these measurements correctly and read the sizing notes on each style before selecting a garment to purchase.
The images below depict the most appropriate locations to take measurements for different parts of your body, specifically bust, waist and hips. When taking these measurements, make sure that the tape is level, you are measuring the widest/smallest part and the tape is neither too tight or too loose. Also measure yourself on your bare skin or over underwear, not over clothes.
Please follow the guide below on how to measure:
-
Bust: Measure the circumference of your chest. Place one end of the tape measure at the fullest part of your bust, wrap it around (under your armpits, across your back and rejoin at the front) to get the measurement.
-
Waist: Use the tape to circle your waist at your natural waistline, which is located above your belly button and below your rib cage. If you bend to the side, the crease that forms is your natural waistline.
-
Hips: To measure the circumference of your low hip, make sure the tape is wrapped over the largest part of your buttocks and the widest part of your hips. Because making sure the tape is level can be hard, we recommend to do it in front of a mirror.
Remember not to:
- Pull the tape measure too tight, creating a indent in the side of your body
- Leave too much room in the tape.
- Don’t suck in your stomach or clench your cheeks.
These mistakes will give you the wrong number for selecting a size. You should be able to comfortably move, breath in and out without restriction. Also make sure you can't fit 1 finger between the tape and your body but there is enough room to slightly move it from side to side, around the circumference you are measuring.
Finally, understanding your body shape and the shape of the garment you are purchasing is also essential. If you have any questions about sizing, fits or styles, please email: info@cherrybobbins.com
