How to Shop for your Body Shape
Embrace your unique body shape
At Cherry Bobbins, we believe there’s no such thing as the “ideal” body shape. Every body is unique and beautiful in its own way, no matter what society, the fashion industry or social media may try to tell you. Body diversity is what makes us all special and we celebrate that individuality!
Shopping for clothes can often feel overwhelming, especially when you consider how beautifully diverse our bodies are. Understanding your body shape can help make shopping a little easier, but remember, categorising body types is more of a guide than an exact science. It's not about fitting into a mould, but about finding styles that highlight your natural shape.
Want to learn more about your body shape? Check out our guide below to the 5 most common body shapes including Inverted Triangle, Apple, Hourglass, Pear, and Rectangle and discover the Cherry Bobbins styles that best complement each shape!

INVERTED TRIANGLE: Characterised by broad shoulders and less defined waist and hips. How To Dress: Styles that are fitted at the bust and create volume in the skirt are best suited. This will balance and soften broad shoulders. We recommend either the Picnic Midi Dress, Sunday Midi Dress or Candy Mini Dress. Both midi dresses can be worn with the Everyday Tulle Skirt underneath.
APPLE (OVAL): This body shape has an average to bigger bust size, wider shoulders, fuller waist and narrower hips. Weight will be concentrated throughout the mid-sections, whilst limbs are relatively slim. How to Dress: Pick styles that create a waist and are shorter in length. Adding too much length and volume to this body shape is not ideal. We recommend either the Vintage Mini Dress or Wednesday Mini Dress.
HOURGLASS: Defined by a body that has almost the same hip and bust measurements, plus a narrow and well-defined waist. How to Dress: Focus on styles that accentuate your curves and have fitted/slimmer style skirts. We recommend both the Sixties Midi Dress or Natalie Midi Dress.
PEAR (TRIANGLE): Is defined by having wider hips, a defined waist and small bust. Weight will be concentrated around the hip, thighs and belly. How to Dress: Selecting styles that accentuate your bust or upper torso, will help to add balance to this shape. We recommend either the Bow Heart Dress or Eleanor Midi Dress.
RECTANGLE (COLUMN): A rectangle body shape shows relatively similar bust, waist and hip measurements. Your curves are less likely to be shown with your weight evenly distributed throughout your body. How to Dress: Pick styles that create a waist either in their shape or print design. We recommend the Sweetheart Top & Skirt or Margo Midi Dress.
